Alex DeBrincat had one of the best junior hockey careers Patrick Sharp Jersey, ever. Playing in the OHL for the Erie Otters, DeBrincat became the first player in 40 years to score 50 goals in three straight seasons. His 137 rating is second all time in OHL history. At the end of the 2016 2017 season, he received the Red Tilson Trophy as the top player in the OHL after he led Erie to an OHL title.
Despite his massive success in juniors, a lot of critics had their doubts about DeBrincat when the Chicago Blackhawks drafted him 39th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The winger is quite undersized by NHL standards at just 5’7″ tall and weighing only 165 lbs. Nevertheless, the Michigan native made the Blackhawks roster in 2017 and has been a leading contributor all season.
In the opening game of the season, Alex DeBrincat would register an assist in his first NHL game. This would foreshadow what was to come for the young star. Just five days later, the 19 year old would register his first NHL goal on Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens. Then, on November 27 against the Anaheim Ducks, DeBrincat would become the second youngest player in team history to record a hat trick. His game has translated to the NHL faster than anyone could have thought.
Though DeBrincat may not win the Calder Trophy as the top rookie in the NHL Brock Boeser is the favorite , there is no denying that what the young winger has done for Chicago is nothing short of special. He is currently tied for third amongst rookie skaters with 13 goals on the season. He is also tied for fifth in total points with 26 at the midway point of the season. Lastly, his 5 rating is better than that of Brock Boeser https://www.blackhawkschifans.…don-saad-jersey-c-15.html, Clayton Keller, and Mathew Barzal.
The Blackhawks have been up and down this season to this point. There’s no telling how worse off they would be without the strong play of Alex DeBrincat. He is tied for second on the Hawks in points https://www.blackhawkschifans.…an-toews-jersey-c-12.html, behind only Patrick Kane. His 17.3 shooting percentage is also second best on the Blackhawks. He has been durable for his team, too, appearing in all 39 games this season. It is clear the the young star has established a starring role for himself in just his first season.
DeBrincat has had a successful first half to the season. Here is a look at what his stat line is on pace to look like
Impressive numbers to say the least. For comparison
His numbers are comparable to the 2016 2017 season of Logan Couture.
Chicago is chasing a playoff spot and it will likely come down to the wire. They will need DeBrincat to play his best hockey in the second half of this season. He will be an integral part of any playoff push the team plans to make. If he can help the Hawks reach the playoffs for a 10th consecutive season, who knows where this team could go. They have the skill and experience to make a run https://www.blackhawkschifans.…schmaltz-jersey-c-14.html, but they need to find more consistency. DeBrincat can bring that consistency to this team.
